Team Games..

Post by D3TH »

Last LlamaLAN we had 2 team games... TF2 and HL2:DM

well we got a vote for one... perhaps we should have both...... i know last lan half life didn't go well but we know loads of people got TF2, and COD4 due to game list... and the 2 games are totally different FPS games.. so one team might be better then the other?

The problem is, the HL2:DM game at the last event didn't really happen. Although it was played, there were not many people playing. Having both TF2 and COD 4, I don't think would work, simply because of the numbers on Friday night.

If enough people want it, however, then we are happy to arrange something :D

I think you have to run a smaller tourney for a friday night from what I heard about the last night, dunno maybe a cnc3 2v2 or 3v3 tourny or something.

just trying to please everyone lol..... we got a mixture of people that want COD4 and a mixture that want TF2, and if one or the other wins then the other group of people will have there LAN experience ruined

but tbh i think both games will be played at LAN anyway even if there isn't a tourny init.

never utter that word on my forums again....;)

as for what to play, that is the whole point of the games list ;) If you don't want to play a game at the LAN, don't put it on your list ;)

I'm sure we can get a TF2 server running for people to play on (assuming I don't have the same problems with steam that I had last time :S )

Let us worry about that mate! It's not easy but I think we managed okay for the last nine events, unless someone's keeping quiet... ;)

I see d3th's point of view if at all possible it would be great if we could have a cod4 and tf2 tourney I know I for one would be far more willing to participate in a tf2 tourney if I knew there was going to be a cod4 one as well, and I would be willing to bet that the TF2 fans might feel the same way to the other way round.

The problem with running both is the time required to do it. Due to a lot of attendees not showing up till Saturday morning, and leaving early Sunday, we don't have full teams for the games.

The only way I could see getting away with it, would be to run the COD4 tournament over the course of the event, as a non team based (single player DM) type setup, with the TF2 as the large team based game.

Judging by how much time was free last time i wouldve said you could fit a second team game in on the saturday. Or alternatively the other option available would be to have the single player tourney on the friday night, and then two team based tourneys on the sat. I really hope you dont think im criticising at all but at 9 the single player event went on for a long time and there were quickly very few people involved in it, where as the team based events involve the majority of the lan.

the 1on1 tourny seems to be the "major" one with the best price, well at ll9 it was the best price.

But you could do this

Friday evening RTS "small" tourny.. for fun

saturday can be team day!!! 2 tournys

sunday morning 1on1 cup and then have you big awards thingy before people go???
