Ripper wrote:Well i just thought id add my 2 cents :) it was a great lan totally awsome i like some of the suggestions and ideas comming out for the next lan.
We're glad you enjoyed it
Ripper wrote:I like the size
It's as large as we can get away with in this venue, we would mind a little larger, but under 50 people means that everyone can actually know every community member there, much larger than 50 and memories can get a little fuzzy.
Ripper wrote:and really an internet connection isnt required, we are there to play games not mess around on the web. saying that tho patches etc might be needed so maybe a connection, but usually someone has them
Up until now, we've deliberately avoided having an Internet connection because it can dilute a small LAN, if we trial it at LlamaLAN 11 it will be strictly for a small number of Instant Messaging protocols, e-Mail, and emergency Steam authentication, not even general web access
Ripper wrote:A little more co-ordination when it comes to starting the games would be great
Already in hand, we realise that this was an issue and are addressing it
Ripper wrote:maybe get some more voice servers up on the next lan i had my teamspeak server up but i think one for each team on the server would deff be better
An oversight on our part which will be sorted out for next event
Ripper wrote:... cant really find much fault with it at all was totally sweet...
Most Excellent
Ripper wrote:pitty about that one guy getting sick but well handeld guys... and i think the one chance policy is cool next tourney he should be dry... but i wasnt really there when it all went down so.... :) and to be honest these things happen im sure it wont happen all that often...
It happens, it is regrettable, but we've managed to run 9 previous events before it happened and so we're happy with our track record
Ripper wrote:Im sorry about the delays i caused in ut but i was suffering from total lack of sleep and needed a good kip.
Sleep is a valuable commodity at any LAN, this is why we have the separate space for camping and sleeping, away from the gaming area. Maybe we should prod people at about 3AM and suggest a rest is in order
Ripper wrote:The 1v1 competition was fierce yaz + dezz kudos to them for the rocking games.
I watched over the shoulder of some matches, they were pretty intense
Ripper wrote:im totally stoked about winning (YAY!!!!!!) and sweet prizes :)
Congratulations and enjoy the spoils of war
Ripper wrote:hopefully u can get those pics up soon and yaz said he would hook up those games he recorded :) so yea was awsome guys keep it up. 10 out of 10
We'll get the photos up as soon as possible, but we're having teething problems with the Gallery upload features so it may take a little longer, keep checking back.

Pru wrote:Well i thought this was another good lan, will start off with why i only gave it an 8 out of 10
Excellent ... let it rip
Pru wrote:No palm trees!!!! (ok i guess i just like inflateable things :P)
... not quite what I expected ... but I'll bring one with me next time and put it in a corner somewhere for you to visit
Pru wrote:A big game of track mania would have been awesome but if it happend this lan i missed it :(
There was no organised and advertised big game but a server did keep popping up which I joined on several occasions, and Nemesis seemed to be playing it whenever I looked over at his screen
Pru wrote:And i got a bit bored of rock band after a while, i really wanted to play some PG games but after friday it just didnt happen.
ProjectorGames were invited to bring their special brand of entertainment for the Friday night in lieu of any other organised 'traditional' LAN activities due to the problems with late arrivals and previous attempts at organising tournaments. They succeeded in providing a great evening's entertainment and then they could settle into the remainder of the LAN as would any other paying LAN attendee and enjoy the activities with everyone else. We'll consider whether additional PG activities would suit the arrangements for next LAN, and whether DJArcas and Er00 are happy to provide them
Pru wrote:The things i liked was the UT tournie, even if the yellows did lose epicly (wheres the wooden spoons? :P)
Once again ... the wooden spoons were overlooked in the excitement and fun that was being had by all
Pru wrote:Everyone being so nice as usual (this time i even rememberd people :o)
Even I started to remember people this time, it just shows that we're getting a great community built around the event with a lot of regulars
Pru wrote:Even though i got bored after a while, rock band was fun to start with, took a while for my hands to realise what they were supposed to be doing though.
I baggsy the microphone for next time!
Pru wrote:I think the mass pizza run/bbq could be a great idea for next event. Also another themed lan would be awesome, as llamalan 8 was fantastic (just dont let CD make the punch).
What's wrong with my punch? I thought it was awesomesause :D All LlamaLANs are themed ... just some are more themed than others ... we're hoping to make the next theme the most memorable yet! :)
Pru wrote:I also think more team games etc would be good, perhaps have something like a leader board and have each game the team wins, they get points and you get an overall winner
We may tweak the balance of tournament vs team game play for next event, but we only have a limited amount of time and this event was already jam packed full, any move towards that would need a definite commitment from the community to support it and make it work
Pru wrote:could have some social stuff on there too like Zodiak was saying
Where time permits we'll see what can be done
Pru wrote:Could even have some team games on rock band/PG.
We never rule anything out
Pru wrote:Thanks for running a great lan overall, next time we need more snails! (i'll also hopefully have a proper pc that i can acctualy game on)
You're welcome, we'll talk to Zodiack about the Snail situation, and we generally find that having a gaming PC does help considerably at LANs, there's nothing worse than sitting back and watching everyone else have all the fun over the network, maybe this is why you overdosed on Rock Band?

Ooops me again .. yes i am a forum whore. My last regular forum took 6 months of me not posting before the next most prolific poster caught my post count.

As a member of ninja pirate clan , i can certainly support a pirate themed lan.
I am really there more for non stop gaming (excluding ofc my every 30mins smoking habit), so tend not to be overly sociable and sometimes grumpy about distractions to gaming ... BUT a pirate theme could be wicked ..

The extra goodies were very nice last time and my kids were sad that i didnt get another pink pig .. man those things rock. On the subject to prizes I would say thanks to Seagate and Crucial (if they sponsored the prizes) if not thanks to LL admins. The prizes that ripper and i won are certainly getting used ...
to explain ... ripper has nicked my ram and the seagate external drive for use in his current gaming rig ... dont ask me to get into why he thought windoze 32 bit would like more than 3 gb ram , but thats another story and i will get one of his 500gb internal drives .. w00t .. i am happy (esp since he will give it to me with all the data still on it).

thanks for getting the pics up , they are great .

peace out
dezz

It's nice to hear that the prizes are getting used ... the RAM was kindly donated by Crucial, the Hard Drive is provided from the prize fund generated by the ticket sales ... remember folks ... we run on a not for profit but not for loss basis, therefore we plough the income from the LANs back into the events in the form of better equipment, prizes and gifts and all the sundry items like Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar, Blackout Material, Printing, and Gaffer Tape. The hats (when they get delivered) also are courtesy of the prize fund, so remember, the more people attend, the bigger the prize fund ... but remember folks, it isn't about the money ... it's about pwning the rest of the LlamaLAN community ;)

It would be cool if we followed a format similar to that world gaming championship that has been on tv recently where each team puts representatives forward for various other games.

So you could have to 2 big events i.e ut2k4 onslaught and 1v1 and then several smaller events earning points for each team.

In the thing on tv there is a fifa tourney a doa tourney and a forza one, stuff like these could be mixed in with projector games.

An interesting concept that we'll look into for future events, it certainly has possibilities ;)
