LlamaLAN 10 - RTS Tourney

Post by Kanonfodda »

Right, as people are asking about this, I shall put it down in a post.

Anyone who wants to play in a small RTS tournament, post in here with a list of all RTS games you have (in order of preference).

If we have enough people post with similar games, then we can arrange something :)

current votes from this thread:

C&C3 - 5
AoE3 - 2
AoE - 1
AoE2 - 1
DoW - 1

so pretty much CnC3 is winning so far, with a whopping 5 entrants. If we can get that up to 8, then I'll set up a tournament for you to play in over the course of the weekend.
If it bleeds, we can fry it :0D

A "small" tourney?

*glares at KF*

I have various CnC games, but I think I'll only play CnC3.
I have every DoW game.
I have SupCom.
I have Company of Heroes, but only the original and not any expansions (yet?).

I think my brain must be on holiday, for I cannot think of any others at the minute.

It'll be a 'small tourney' because only a 'small' number of people have indicated interest in playing RTS games, if there were a 'large' number of people interested in playing i.e. more people than TF2 or CoD4 then it would be a 'large tourney' ... we cannot force people to play, we cannot force people to buy the game, we cannot force people to like a genre that they don't like ... all we can do is ask people to vote and go with that ... people voted ... they preferred FPS to RTS.

The staff who run the event do so in their own time, at their own cost, we actually pay to attend, it doesn't run like an i-series or other LAN, few LANs choose their games in such a democratic manner, most just choose the 'game of the moment' and run with that, after the manner in which the games choice is being 'discussed' on these forums, it may be something we'll have to reconsider for the future.

I'm not out to rock the boat or anything, so I apologise if I came across as annoyed or anything like that.

Just seems that FPS is the in thing regardless of wether people vote for it or not.

Not complaining about that, just it's nice now and again to have something different, to stop things being samey samey if you see what I mean.

Goodness, I haven't bought an RTS in yonks.
I should demand that my house has a game soon when dad's off work.

As far as they go, I've got Supreme Commander lying around somewhere.
AoE up to 2 (yahaaa for having the originalssss), and AoM. I might have AoE3 lurking in a shelf.
Ehm...
Nope, that's about it.

just thought I would bring you up on this point. Did you look at the games list? the majority of people DID vote for an FPS, that's why it was picked...

Anyone found a better price than £11.99 ?

http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/5855513 ... oduct.html

there are other versions at £13.99 and £17.99 if you want 'extras'.
